When Maine’s first commercial wind farm was built just a few miles from the University, the UMPI administration, led by President Don Zillman, PhD, were inspired to pursue a wind power project on campus. The project offsets approximately 33% of the annual campus energy use costs, reduces UMPI’s carbon emissions substantially, and is a widely used learning tool in the University curriculum.
