Why Engineering (4 MB)
Ever since the firm was founded by college professor Frank Woodard, and one of his students, Al Curran, we have thrived by learning from and teaching each other. Just as Frank’s textbook, Industrial Waste Treatment Handbook, is used in classrooms across the country, his legacy of mentoring and teaching permeates Woodard & Curran. In that tradition, we offer students:
- Summer internships;
- Co-ops and other opportunities to work during the academic year; and
- A formal mentoring program for all interns.
Testimonials
"During my summer and fall internships at Woodard & Curran, I was introduced to the engineering profession, life, and everything in between. The knowledge I gained from the variety of people I worked with has been irreplaceable. Their skill, work-ethic, and passion have influenced my performance, not only in the work place but also in my final year of school. The way that they brought me into their project teams made me feel like I was able to make significant contributions. I feel privileged to be able to continue my work as a full time engineer at Woodard & Curran after completion of my Masters." - Nick, current employee and former intern
"The experience I have gained during my internships with Woodard & Curran has created a great foundation for my future in engineering. Seeing real-world problem solving in practical settings has perfectly supplemented the theoretical aspect of my education. It is an honor to be given the opportunity to work alongside such passionate, hard-working individuals who strive to be challenged. The attitude they have towards their works is infectious, and I bring my new-found desire for challenge not only to the work place, but also my schooling. This challenging yet welcoming atmosphere has made my time with Woodard & Curran enjoyable." - Francie, former intern
"As a summer intern at Woodard & Curran, I got the chance to supplement my college education with fantastic experience in the engineering profession. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful, and their expertise began to wear off on me immediately. As an intern I was able to work on design projects in the office, visit job sites, and even attend public meetings about the projects I was working on. I felt like I was part of the team, which made my work exciting and rewarding. My internship also helped me identify the field of engineering that I ultimately wanted to begin my career in. I feel very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to start as a full time engineer at Woodard & Curran upon graduation." - Greg Pellerin, current employee and former intern
